Turn "waste" into worth! In The Eco-Artist week, campers will learn to see the artistic potential in the world around them. We’re combining chemistry, recycling, and fine art to create stunning pieces that celebrate sustainability and the natural beauty of Sioux Falls.
Weekly Highlights:
Botanical Paper Pulp Sculptures: Campers will master the "Master Maker" technique of turning recycled egg cartons and junk mail into high-end "paper clay." They’ll mold this pulp into textured bowls and 3D forms, embedding dried flowers and seeds for an earthy, boutique finish.
Eco-Printing with Iron & Tannins: A lesson in organic chemistry! Using rusty objects, vinegar, and natural leaves, campers will create "ghost prints" on fabric—a sophisticated way to dye textiles using only earth-friendly elements.
Found-Object "Scrap Sculptures": Inspired by modern abstract artists, campers will use upcycled wood, metal, and plastic to engineer large-scale sculptures that challenge the way we look at "trash."
The Living Art Project: Every camper will decorate their own ceramic planter and learn the science of seed starting, taking home their own miniature garden to tend to all summer.
The Details:
Full-Day Creative Immersion: Monday -Thursday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Expert Instruction: Hands-on guidance for ages 6–12 to turn nature into fine art.
Gallery Show: Join us for our weekly "Mini-Museum" showcase! 4:30 on Thursday—don't miss the chance to see what your camper has grown!
We provide snacks and water, please have your camper bring lunch and a water bottle!
